DCUT alpha
DCUT is in a closed alpha, by invitation, under a Limited alpha license. DCOMP Lifetime owners are invited first, in the order they purchased. Your dashboard shows whether your invite is open. Questions and bug reports go to the DCUT channel on Discord.
Requirements
- Windows 10 or Windows 11, 64-bit (x64).
- A DirectX 12 graphics card with a current driver. 16 GB of memory is suggested.
- DrewUI Camera needs Windows 11. On Windows 10, send DCUT's output to OBS with Spout2 and the OBS Spout2 plugin instead.
- Captions are fast only on NVIDIA graphics cards; on other cards they work, but slowly. The install downloads the captions runtime (about 600 MB), and the first caption run downloads a speech model: up to about 3.1 GB on NVIDIA, about 485 MB on other cards.
- An internet connection to sign in. After that DCUT runs offline for up to 7 days.
- Up to 3 PCs per account. A PC frees up 30 days after its last use; to move DCUT sooner, email us and we free one.
Install
- Sign in at drewui.com/dashboard.html and click Download on the DCUT row. The button appears once your invite is open.
- Run DCUT Launcher.exe. If Windows says "Windows protected your PC", click More info, check that the Publisher line reads DREWUI LLC, then click Run anyway. If it says Unknown publisher or any other name, click Don't run and contact support.
- Enter your DrewUI email and password, the same ones you use on this website. Discord sign-in is not supported.
- Make sure Remember me is ticked. It keeps you signed in, which DCUT needs to download speech models for captions later.
- Read the DCUT terms (the DCUT Limited Alpha License link on the launcher's sign-in screen), tick "I agree to the DCUT Limited Alpha License and acknowledge the Privacy Policy", click Log in, and let the launcher install DCUT and any required update.
Opening projects
- Open DCUT projects with File > Open, Open Recent, or by dragging the file onto DCUT.
- Double-clicking a .drui file opens DCOMP, which cannot read DCUT projects. Do not set .drui files to always open with the DCUT Launcher: DCOMP projects would then open in DCUT as looks.
- DCUT shares DCOMP's preset folder (Documents\DCOMP Presets), so presets you save in DCUT also show up in DCOMP. Some of DCUT's folders are named DCOMP.
- Projects should keep working in later builds but may look slightly different after an update. Keep your source footage, and do not use the alpha for work you cannot redo.
Reporting a problem
Ask questions and report bugs in the DCUT channel on the DrewUI Discord: join the DCUT channel. To help us fix a problem faster, also email us a report (never post it in Discord):
- In DCUT, open Help > About DCUT and click Copy Report, then paste it into your email.
- If DCUT crashed, attach the crash log: paste
%APPDATA%\DrewUI\DCOMP\datainto File Explorer's address bar and attachdcomp-crash.logfrom that folder. - Say what you were doing and roughly when it happened.
Send the report, and the crash log if there is one, privately: reply to your DCUT invite email, or email getdrewui@gmail.com. The report includes your email address and can name your files and folders, so never paste it, or the crash log, in Discord or any other public channel.
If DCUT just closes and the crash log has nothing new, note the time, open Windows Event Viewer (Windows Logs > Application) and send the Application Error entry from that time.
Known issues (no need to report these)
- The facecam finder is often wrong on new facecam setups.
- HUD cutouts are off on footage that is not the preset's aspect ratio.
- Find highlights covers 5 games, and on Valorant it counts every kill in the match.
- Changing a caption's size or font does not re-fit captions you already have.
- "Which game is this?" asks about every file it does not recognize.
- Media on a network drive asks to connect again every time you reopen the project.
- Direct publishing says "not set up in this build".
- Scheduled posts only remind you while DCUT is running.
- There is no Reverse, typed speed, transition editor or tutorial yet.
Uninstall
Windows Settings > Apps > Installed apps > DCUT > Uninstall. This removes DCUT, its components and the launcher, and asks for administrator approval to remove DrewUI Camera. Your projects, autosaves, history and the crash log, in the DrewUI\DCOMP folders, are kept. To have a PC removed from your account, see the privacy policy.
